Classes Once you arrive on campus, choose CORE CLASSES and SKILLS CLASSES that fit your schedule, personal interests, language level, and study goals.

Beginner students will take English Foundation classes. Intermediate to Advanced students can choose from any of the below English Communication classes, or choose from our Business English, Academic and Test Preparation, or Creative and Cultural English classes.

CORE CLASSES ELETIVE CLASSES Academic English Mastery The ILSC Academic English Mastery Level courses offer a capstone to the ILSC Advanced English for Academic Purposes curriculum. The two ILSC Academic English Mastery levels provide students with an enhanced focus on the academic skills they will need to succeed in their pursuit of higher education.  These include: advanced listening, speaking, reading and writing skills.  

The ILSC Academic English Mastery content-based curriculum develops students’ English language skills through the exploration of academic themes. In addition, in each ILSC Academic English Mastery level students develop skills and participate in activities that are essential to success in higher education such as: 

Listening and Note-taking  Collaborative group projects  Presentation skills  Academic Research Language Levels:  A1,  A2 Locations:  Brisbane,  Melbourne,  Toronto,  Vancouver Cambridge B1 Preliminary Our Cambridge English PET preparation course will help prepare you for success on Cambridge's Preliminary English Test.  The PET tests whether you have mastered the basics of English and have practical language skills for everyday use.  At this level you should be able to read simple textbooks and written materials in English, take notes in a meeting, write emails and letters on everyday topics, and understand opinions and mood in both written and spoken English.

Language Levels:  I1,  I2 Locations:  Sydney,  Brisbane,  Melbourne,  Adelaide,  Perth Cambridge B2 First The Cambridge B2 First Certificate in English is the third level of the Cambridge exams in English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL). It is an upper intermediate level exam. Cambridge B2 First is designed for learners whose command of English is adequate for many practical everyday purposes, including business and study. Successful candidates will have a wide grasp of vocabulary and should be able to construct an argument and use appropriate communication styles for a variety of situations. They also need to show an awareness of register and of the conventions of politeness and degrees of formality as they are expressed through language. Cambridge B2 First is recognized by many universities and other educational institutions as proof of upper intermediate level English skills, and these institutions accept it as meeting part of their entrance requirements. Because the examinations are based on realistic tasks, a Cambridge B2 First certificate is an important asset for anyone who wants to work or study abroad, or in international business. Employers throughout the world recognize Cambridge B2 First. It indicates sufficient proficiency in English to be of practical use in clerical, secretarial and managerial jobs in many industries, in particular tourism, where contact with English speakers is required. Successful candidates have the ability to deal with routine letters and telephone enquiries and to cope with some non-academic training courses and simple textbooks and articles.

Cambridge C1 Advanced demonstrates a high level of English proficiency, recognising the ability to communicate with confidence and manage most aspects of everyday life. Cambridge C1 Advanced is seen by many universities and employers around the world as proof of adequate language skills for studies or work. Studying for Cambridge C1 Advanced helps learners to improve their language skills and use them in a wide range of contexts. The examinations are based on realistic tasks and indicate the ability to use the language in practical situations. Successful candidates are able to participate in meetings and discussions, expressing opinions clearly and can understand and produce texts of various types, including formal letters and reports. It helps you strengthen your English language skills, gain familiarity with the Greystone College curriculum, and practice essential skills for success in both academic and workplace settings. Language Levels:  I1,  I2,  I3,  I4,  A1,  A2 Locations:  Sydney,  Brisbane,  Melbourne,  Adelaide,  Perth IELTS The IELTS Test is internationally recognized. Targeted test preparation classes are designed around specific tests, like IELTS, Cambridge and TOEFL, and help students practise, and target key skill areas assessed on the tests. Teachers of our Academic English and Test Preparation classes have years of experience supporting students to achieve their academic and test goals. Students have the flexibility to combine Academic and Test Preparation classes with classes from any focus area, including English Communication, Creative and Cultural English, and Business English. Regular Student Progress Reports will help you track your progress and decide what classes to take next. Choose new classes every 4-weeks. You can combine classes however you like, according to your English level, by choosing from a variety of core and elective classes.
