This popular Study and Work option allows non-EU/EEA* students to take our ILEP-accredited General English for 25 weeks, and live and work in Ireland for up to 33 weeks. The visa can be renewed twice, allowing you to stay and study for up to two years.

Live and work like a local Dubliner and accelerate your English by studying 15 hours per week and working up to 20 hours during your studies – or 40 hours during official holiday periods.

*EU/EEA students do not require a visa to work in Ireland and can enrol in any of our General English program for 1 week or longer to improve their English communication skills and support their success in an Irish workplace.

What You'll Learn Study General English Build real-world English skills for global communication. General English is designed to help you grow your confidence and ability in all areas of the language—speaking, listening, reading, and writing—while expanding your grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation.

You’ll learn in a dynamic and engaging classroom where interactive lessons and practical activities help you develop the skills you need to communicate in everyday situations. Weekly themes and tasks focus on real-life use, and your progress is supported through regular homework, feedback, and weekly assessments.

Get the most out of your cultural and language immersion by maintaining good attendance and participation throughout your study program. Note that students who plan to extend their Stamp 2 Visa must maintain at least 85% attendance.

Work in Your Free Time As Ireland’s capital and a top global tourism destination, Dublin offers a wide range of part-time job opportunities in hospitality, retail, and tourism—industries that are ideal for English language students like you.

If you have previous experience and strong communication skills, you may also be able to explore roles in Dublin’s thriving business or tech sectors, which are home to both innovative startups and major global companies.

With Stamp 2 Visa permission, you can work up to 20 hours per week during your study period, and up to 40 hours per week during official holiday periods. These holidays align with typical university and college breaks in Ireland, so it’s easy to plan your schedule around them:

June 1 – September 30: 40 hours per week December 15 – January 15: 40 hours per week All other times: 20 hours per week As of 2025, the minimum wage in Ireland is €13.50 per hour for those age 20 and older. Ireland has one of the highest minimum wages in Europe — consistently ranking in the top three!
